Carl Erskine blanked Pittsburgh in a very well-pitched complete game and Carl
Furillo blasted a homerun and had 3 RBI as the Brooklyn Dodgers defeated the
Pittsburgh Pirates by a score of 8 to 0 at Ebbets Field.

Erskine(8-6) gave Brooklyn a solid outing. He went 9 innings surrendering 9
hits and 2 walks reducing his ERA from 5.42 to 4.98. Brooklyn totaled 8 on
the afternoon.

Bob Friend(4-6) absorbed the loss. He gave up 6 hits and 5 walks in 6
innings.
