Al Smith slammed a homerun and had 2 RBI and Early Wynn completed the game
without help from the bullpen as the Cleveland Indians outscored the Kansas
City Athletics in 11 innings 5 to 4.

The score was tied at 4 after nine. Cleveland came out on top in the 11th
inning. Larry Doby reached on an error. Sam Dente next to the plate and he
reached on an error. After an out was recorded, Dale Mitchell stepped in and
he laced a one-base hit scoring the run. The Kansas City batters went down
meekly in the bottom of the 11th.

Wynn(7-3) got the victory, allowing 4 runs for the game. Tom Gorman(2-2) took
the loss in relief. With this win, Cleveland has a 49-29 record. They have
been 6-4 lately. With the loss Kansas City now has a record of 25-51.
