At Yankee Stadium the amazing New York Yankees outscored the Boston Red Sox 7
to 4.

New York brought 4 runs across the plate in the 4th inning. The crucial
at-bat was provided by Hank Bauer who elicited a roar from the hometown fans
when he banged out a single which was good for two runs. New York totaled 9
on the afternoon.

Tom Morgan(5-1) allowed 2 runs in 5 innings, and picked up the victory. Whitey
Ford earned his 1st save. Mel Parnell(3-2) was the loser. He was knocked
around, surrendering 5 runs in 3 and 1/3 innings.
