Jim King snapped out of a long slump with 2 doubles and 3 RBI as the Cubs edge the Redlegs 5-4 and split the doubleheader.

The Chicago Cubs edged the Cincinnati Redlegs at Wrigley Field by the score of
5 to 4.

Chicago scored 2 runs in the 3rd inning. The critical plate appearance was by
Jim King who made the home-town crowd a happy bunch when he doubled bringing
in two baserunners. Although they lost, Cincinnati did out-hit Chicago 11 to
7.

Warren Hacker(4-7) went 7 and 2/3 innings allowing 4 runs for the victory.
Hacker was helped out by Hal Jeffcoat who recorded his 4th save. Rudy
Minarcin(3-4) suffered the loss.

With this win, Chicago has a 38-42 record. They have been 5-5 lately. With
this loss, Cincinnati has a 7-3 record of late, 41-31 overall.
