In a good matchup it was the Cincinnati Redlegs 5, the Chicago Cubs 3 at
Wrigley Field.

Cincinnati came through with the game-winning runs in the top of the 9th
inning scoring 2 runs using 2 hits. Wally Post led off the inning for
Cincinnati when he drew a walk. Gus Bell came next and he laced a
base-knock. After an out was recorded, Ray Jablonski stepped in and he
doubled knocking in a run. Roy McMillan was up next and he reached on an
error scoring the final run of the inning. Cincinnati finished with 14 hits
while Chicago ended up with 7.

The win was credited to Johnny Klippstein(4-4) who went 2 innings allowing no
runs. Klippstein got help from Hersh Freeman who was credited with his 4th
save. Harry Perkowski(0-4) was the losing pitcher in relief. He gave up 3
runs in 2 and 1/3 innings of work.
