Al Kaline slammed a homerun and had 2 RBI as the Detroit Tigers beat the
Chicago White Sox by a score of 5 to 1.

In the 3rd inning Detroit went on top for good plating an isolated run
utilizing 2 base hits. After two outs Harvey Kuenn smashed a bases-empty
'big-fly' (his 2nd of the season). Both teams totaled 11 on the afternoon.

Ned Garver(8-4) got credit for the victory, pitching 8 innings and allowing no
runs. Virgil Trucks(7-6) was the loser. He was touched for 3 homeruns in his
4 and 1/3 innings of work.
