NL Transaction July 6th
The Milwaukee Braves sent relief pitcher Joey Jay to triple A and called up pitcher Phil Paine. The 19 year old Jay was (0-1) with a 5.21 ERA in 19 innings, including one start. Last year in a cup of coffee with the big club Joey was (0-1) in 18 IP including one start. Skipper Charlie Grimm really likes the kid but thinks he need more work right now.
The 25 year old righthander Paine was also with the club a brief time last year. He posted a (1-0) record with a 3.95 ERA over 14 innings, all in relief.
