The Baltimore Orioles edged the Chicago White Sox at Comiskey Park by the score of 5 to 4. Dave Pope had 3 extra base hits for the Orioles. Baltimore went ahead for good in the 5th inning when they tallied 2 runs on 3 hits. Chicago had a chance in the 9th but they came up short. The victory went to Jim Wilson(7-8) who went 7 and 2/3 innings, allowing 3 runs. Wilson was helped out by Harry Dorish who recorded his 5th save. Mike Fornieles(5-3) was charged with the loss. 'You have to give Chicago credit, they fought us tough to the end' Paul Richards said. 'It could have gone either way, but I'm glad we pulled out the victory.'

16,200 fans watched an exciting game at Municipal Stadium. The Kansas City Athletics topped the Washington Nationals by the slimmest of margins, 9 to 8. Kansas City had the winning rally in the 8th inning when they scored 4 runs on 3 hits. The crucial at-bat was provided by Gus Zernial who made the Kansas City fans a happy lot when he doubled plating all three baserunners. Washington had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short. The win went to Tom Gorman(3-3) who allowed no runs in 2 innings. Mickey McDermott(3-6) took the loss in relief. He gave up 4 runs and 4 hits in 1 and 2/3 innings.
