NL Transaction July 18th

The Cincinnati Redlegs sent Ray Jablonski, a major disapointment, to Triple A today. On December 8th of last year Cincinnati sent their best relief pitcher, Frank Smith, to St. Louis for third baseman Jablonski, who had hit .281 with 10 homers and 116 RBI for the Redbirds last year. Expecting this kind of production from the 29 year old, in his 3rd season, has led to severe fan reaction with Jablonski's .255 avg, 9 homers, and 20 RBI. Cincinnati skipper Birdie Tebbets said "Ray has not felt comfortable all year after 2 big years for the Cardinals. We just can't wait any longer as Brooklyn is playing really well right now".
