NL Transaction July 19th
The St. Louis Cardinals called up 27 year old righthander Willard Schmidt from Triple A today. Schmidt had been up with the Cardinals for two brief cups of coffee in 1952 & 1953. He compiled a 2-5 record with a 6.54 ERA in 52 innings. Harry Walker, the Redbird skipper, will insert Schmidt into the rotation immediately.
