Harvey Haddix shutout Philadelphia while allowing the St. Louis bullpen a

day-off at Connie Mack Stadium where the St. Louis Cardinals beat the

Philadelphia Phillies 2 to 0.



Haddix(10-8) pitched one of his finer games as he simply was too much for the

Philadelphia batters. He gave up just 5 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings

improving his ERA from 3.52 to 3.28. Neither team managed to score after the

3rd inning.



Herm Wehmeier(6-6) was tagged with the loss. He gave up just 2 runs and 4

hits in 9 innings.
