separated the combatants at game's end. The Boston Red Sox won by the

slimmest of margins, 7 to 6.



Ellis Kinder(3-3) earned the victory with a fine relief performance. He did

not allow a hit or a walk in his 2 innings. Chicago was set down quietly in

the bottom of the 9th.



The losing pitcher was Harry Byrd(10-5). He allowed 5 hits and 4 walks in 1

and 2/3 innings.
