Early Wynn allowed Al Lopez to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game as
the Cleveland Indians defeated the Baltimore Orioles by the score of 3 to 2
at Municipal Stadium.
Baltimore surrendered all of the runs Cleveland needed in the 7th inning as
they scored 3 runs on 2 base hits. The key at-bat was by Vic Wertz who
brought a roar from the partisan Municipal Stadium fans when he banged out a
single which was good for two runs. Baltimore had a chance to come back in
the 9th but they came up short.
Wynn(9-4) lasted until the end allowing 2 runs for the win. The losing pitcher
was Erv Palica(2-11). He pitched 8 innings allowing 4 hits and 5 walks.
