Steve Gromek had a strong outing as the Detroit Tigers crushed the slumping

Baltimore Orioles 11 to 0.

Al Kaline was a thorn in the side of the hometown fans as he enjoyed a fine

day at their team's expense. He blasted a two-run home run (his 24th of the

season) in the 1st inning, doubled in the 3rd inning and doubled knocking in

a run in the 7th inning. Detroit had a total of 13 hits for the game.

Gromek(6-8) went the distance for the shutout. Ted Gray(0-1) took the loss.

He gave up 6 runs in 5 innings of work.
