Harvey Kuenn had 2 base hits and Billy Hoeft whitewashed Baltimore on 2 hits

at Memorial Stadium as the Detroit Tigers beat the Baltimore Orioles by the

count of 4 to 0.

Hoeft(11-7) pitched one of his finer games as he simply was too much for the

Baltimore batters. He surrendered only 2 hits and 3 walks in 9 innings.

Detroit managed 7 in their victory.

The losing pitcher was Ray Moore(5-11). This win by Detroit continues their

recent hot streak. In their last ten games, they have a record of 8-2. For

the season, they are 48-46. Paul Richards was unhappy with his club's recent

performance. 'We can't keep losing games' he said. 'It gets to be

embarrassing after a while.'
