Bill Wight allowed Paul Richards to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game
as the Baltimore Orioles defeated the Cleveland Indians in 10 innings by the
score of 2 to 1 at Memorial Stadium.
The game was deadlocked at 1 after nine full innings. Baltimore won the hard
fought contest in the 10th inning. Dave Philley hit a single. Jim Dyck came
next and he smacked a single. Two outs later Chuck Diering stepped up to the
plate and he lashed a single making Baltimore the victors to the delight of
the home town faithful. Baltimore managed 11 in their victory.
The victory went to Wight(2-1) who went the distance allowing 1 run. The
losing pitcher was Ray Narleski(6-2) in relief.
'It's been a rough ride lately, but this was a good win for us' said Paul
Richards, 'Maybe this will put us back on track.'
