In a two run game the phenomenal Brooklyn Dodgers got by the St. Louis

Cardinals by the score of 9 to 7.

Duke Snider enjoyed a fine evening at the plate. He doubled plating a run in

the 1st inning, cleared the fences for a two-run home run (his 22nd of the

season) in the 6th inning and slapped a base-hit which plated a run in the

7th inning. St. Louis made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to

push the needed runs across.

The win was credited to Karl Spooner(9-1) who went 5 and 2/3 innings allowing

2 runs. Spooner got relief help from Clem Labine who gained credit for his

5th save. The loss was charged to Larry Jackson(7-10). He was touched for 9

hits and 4 walks in 4 and 2/3 innings.

'It's a disheartening loss, no question about it' said Harry Walker 'But we

have to get over it and get ready for the next game.'
