NL Transaction July 31st
The Chicago Cubs placed 38 year old catcher Clyde McCullough on the DL today. McCullough is in his 14th big league season, missing 2 years to WWII. He spent his 1st 7 seasons with the Cubs and then 4 years with the Pirates before returning to Chicago in 1953. The last two years have been spent in a reserve role. Last year he hit .221 with 2 homers and 6 RBI in 86 plate appearances. This year he was at .186 with 4 RBI in 89 plate appearances before his injury. It looks as though he will miss the rest of the year.
