Third baseman Sid Gordon smacked 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI as the New York

Giants defeated the Chicago Cubs in 12 innings 12 to 7 at Wrigley Field.

The score was tied at 6 after nine. New York won the game in the 12th inning.

The highlight belonged to Don Mueller who deflated the crowd as he doubled

plating all three baserunners. New York bats were hot in the 12th inning

with 6 runs on 4 hits. It was roller coaster of a game as the lead change

hands 5 times.

Windy McCall(5-4) got the win allowing no runs in 2 innings. Warren

Hacker(6-8) was the loser in relief. Lou Durocher was just happy to get a

win, 'We've had such a bad streak of games -- boy, it's great to get the

monkey off our back. Now maybe we can relax a little and play the kind of

baseball of which we are capable.'
