Harry Byrd pitched a 7 hitter as the White Sox down the Nationals 2-1 and sweep the doubleheader.

Harry Byrd was able to finish what he started and was credited with a complete

game as the Chicago White Sox defeated the Washington Nationals 2 to 1 at

Griffith Stadium.



In the top of the 6th inning Chicago scored 1 run. Jim Rivera stroked a

base-hit. Two outs later Jim Busby came up and he reached on an error

scoring the run. Washington proved to be no trouble in the bottom of the

9th.



The victory went to Byrd(11-5) who went the distance allowing 1 run. Spec

Shea(1-5) was given the loss. The winning ways continue for Chicago. They

now have a record of 8-2 in recent days. With this loss, Washington has a

3-7 record of late, 40-62 overall.
