Harvey Kuenn had 3 base hits and 2 RBI as the Detroit Tigers topped the

Washington Nationals by a score of 7 to 4 at Griffith Stadium.



Detroit brought 3 runs across the plate in the top of the 2nd inning when they

had 3 base hits. The big moment was provided by Kuenn who deflated the mood

of the partisan fans when he doubled which was good for two runs. Detroit

managed 9 in their victory.

innings. The losing pitcher was Ted Abernathy(4-6). He pitched 5 and 1/3

innings giving up 6 hits and 4 walks.
