NL Transaction August 1st
The Milwaukee Braves placed slugging 1B Joe Adcock on the DL today. In his 6th major league season the 27 year old Adcock is big piece of the puzzle for the 2nd place Braves. Last year he hit .265 with 20 homers and 62 RBI. This year he was at .267 with 19 bombs and 40 RBI in 304 plate appearances. It looks as if he will miss the rest of the season unless a quick recovery leads to some pinch hitting at the end of the year. Replacing him at 1B will be 34 year old George Crowe, who has not played a full season in the big leagues.
