NL Transaction August 1st
The Philadelphia Phillies signed former Phillie Eddie Waitkus as a free agent. The 34 year old 11 year veteran was the 1B on the 1950 pennant winning Whiz Kids. Waitkus spent last year (.299 with 2 homers and 21 RBI) and this season (.326-0-5) with Baltimore before his release on July 2nd.
