NL Transaction August 2nd

The Philadelphia Phillies activated 11 year veteran 2B Granny Hamner from the disabled list. Hamner, who has spent his entire career with the Phillies, had been placed on the DL July 6th. He was hitting .225 with one homer and 24 RBI before his injury. Trying to play through the pain, Hamner struggled to come any where close to last seasons .273 - 15 homer - 77 RBI year.

The Phillies sent down 26 year old SS Mickey Micelotta to make room for Hamner. Micelotta had been up last year for a short time going 1-2 with 2 walks and an RBI. This year he was 3-5 in 5 games.
