Gus Bell went yard and had 2 RBI and Joe Nuxhall was able to finish what he
started and was credited with a complete game as the Cincinnati Redlegs
topped the Philadelphia Phillies by a score of 9 to 3 at Crosley
Field.
Cincinnati promptly took the lead in their half of the first scoring a single
run utilizing 2 base hits. Johnny Temple laced a single. Temple got a great
jump and stole second easily. After an out was recorded, Ted Kluszewski
stepped up to the plate and he would ground out scoring the run. Cincinnati
had a total of 12 hits for the game.
Nuxhall(12-9) allowed 3 runs on the game. Saul Rogovin(0-4) was the loser. He
gave up 6 runs in 1 and 2/3 innings and saw his ERA jump from 5.33 to 6.91.
With this win, Cincinnati has a 62-43 record. They have been 5-5 lately. With
this loss, Philadelphia has a 3-7 record of late, 46-64 overall.
