Cincinnati Redlegs won a dramatic crowd-pleaser over Pittsburgh Pirates at
Crosley Field pulling it out in their last at bats, 7 to 6.
The game was won by Cincinnati with a run in the 9th inning. Bob Thurman
doubled. Ted Kluszewski was next and he hit a single. Wally Post then hit a
deep fly giving Cincinnati the win much to the delight of the home town
crowd. This was a game of many highs and lows for the home town fans, as the
lead kept changing - 5 times in all.
Hersh Freeman(5-3) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 2 and 1/3
innings. The loss was charged to Bob Friend(7-9) in relief. He pitched 1 and
1/3 innings and surrendered 3 hits and no walks.
