14,920 fans were treated to a fine game at Sportsmans Park as only one run

separated the combatants at game's end.  The Philadelphia Phillies won by the

slimmest of margins, 3 to 2.

 

The deciding run was scored by Philadelphia in the 9th.  Andy Seminick drew a

walk.  Murry Dickson came next and he laid down a sacrifice bunt.  After

another out, Bobby Morgan came up and he laced a base-hit scoring the run.

Overall Philadelphia out-hit St. Louis 11 to 6.  

 

The win was credited to Dickson(9-8) who went 8 innings allowing 2 runs.

Dickson got relief help from Jack Meyer who gained credit for his 7th save.

The losing pitcher was Tom Poholsky(4-6) in relief.
