Ernie Banks cracked 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI and Sam Jones was able to finish

what he started and was credited with a complete game as the Chicago Cubs

beat the Brooklyn Dodgers by a score of 4 to 3.



Banks made sure the Chicago fans enjoyed themselves. He smashed a solo-shot

out of the park in the 2nd inning and blasted a two-run home run (his 32nd of

the season) in the 4th inning. Brooklyn had a chance to come back in the 9th

but they came up short.



Jones(12-9) got the victory, allowing 3 runs for the game. Don Newcombe(11-8)

suffered the loss. He was touched for 3 homeruns in his 8 innings of work.



The Chicago ballclub's record now stands at 60-54. Brooklyn has a record of

68-42 after the loss.
