Al Smith hit 2 doubles as the Cleveland Indians beat the Washington Nationals
by a score of 5 to 4.
Art Houtteman(3-8) got the win but did not look spectacular. He gave up 4
runs, 10 hits and 3 walks in 6 innings. Washington had a chance to come back
in the 9th but they came up short.
Ray Narleski was credited with his 12th save. Camilo Pascual(1-9) took the
loss. He got hit hard, allowing 10 hits and 4 walks in 5 and 1/3 innings.
Chuck Dressen was subdued after the ballgame, 'That one really hurts. If our
guys had simply played more fundamentally sound, we could have won that one.
That is what really ticks me off!'
