separated the combatants at game's end. The St. Louis Cardinals won by the
slimmest of margins, 4 to 3.
The game was won by St. Louis with a run in the 8th inning. After an out was
recorded, Bill Sarni delivered a one-base hit. One out later, Pete Whisenant
stepped in and he stroked a base-hit. Joe Nuxhall then let one slip out of
his hand for a wild pitch scoring the run. St. Louis had 14 hits for the
game and Cincinnati had 7.
Paul Lapalme(3-4) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 1 and 1/3
innings. Larry Jackson got the save, his 1st. Nuxhall(14-10) suffered the
loss.
