Catcher Red Wilson had 2 base hits and Billy Hoeft was able to finish what he
started and was credited with a complete game as the Detroit Tigers defeated
the Cleveland Indians by a score of 3 to 1 at Municipal Stadium.
Detroit had 2 runs cross the plate in the top of the 3rd inning with the help
of 3 hits. The early run support proved sufficient for Hoeft(13-8) and
Detroit. That was all the run support Hoeft required. Cleveland went down
quietly in the bottom of the 9th.
Early Wynn(10-7) was tagged with the loss. He gave up 9 hits and no walks in
7 innings. With this win, Detroit has a 59-53 record. They have been 6-4
lately. With the loss Cleveland now has a record of 64-48.
