One run was the difference at Memorial Stadium as the Baltimore Orioles

defeated the New York Yankees in 11 innings 4 to 3.



The score was tied at 3 after nine. Baltimore ended up winning it in the 11th

inning. Willie Miranda reached on an error. Bob Hale was next and he

doubled. After an out was recorded, Cal Abrams stepped in and he drew a walk

to load the bases. Dave Philley was up next and he delivered a one-base hit

resulting in an exciting win for Baltimore and a raucous post-game

celebration by the home town fans. Baltimore managed 12 in their victory.



The winning pitcher was George Zuverink(2-4) who allowed 1 run in 3 innings.

Bob Turley(12-8) was the losing pitcher in relief. He allowed 1 run and 2

hits in 1/3 of an inning.
