Minnie Minoso had 4 hits and 3 RBI as the potent Chicago White Sox topped the

pitiful Kansas City Athletics by a score of 13 to 8 at Municipal

Stadium.

Minoso enjoyed a big evening at the plate. He doubled in the 1st inning,

laced a one-base hit bringing in a run in the 5th inning, doubled which

plated a run in the 7th inning and lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' (his 9th of

the season) in the 9th inning. Despite scoring in 5 separate innings, Kansas

City could not get the win.

Harry Byrd(12-6) went 5 and 1/3 innings allowing 4 runs for the win. The

losing pitcher was Alex Kellner(5-10). He was knocked around, surrendering 5

runs in 4 and 1/3 innings.

Chicago continued their winnings ways improving their record to a league

leading 73-35. They are 8-2 in their last ten games. Kansas City can't seem

to snap out of their recent 'funk'. Now they have a miserable 2-8 record

over the last couple weeks.
