NL Transaction August 14th

The Brooklyn Dodgers activated starting pitcher Carl Erskine and left fielder Sandy Amoros from the DL today.

Erskine, the 28 year old 8 year veteran, had peen placed on the DL July 28th. After a stellar 1954 campaign (16-11 3.98 ERA in 37 starts), Erskine has struggled this season at (8-8 5.30 ERA in 20 starts). The Dodgers are hoping the rest will have him ready to go for the stretch run.






Amoros, the 24 year old Cuban, is in his 3rd season with the Dodgers. Brooklyn has struggled (7-8) since Sandy was put on the DL July 25th. After struggling in his 1st full season in the big leagues (.241 - 8 HRS - 31 RBI in 91 games) last season Amoros could have been the Dodgers MVP in the 1st half of this year. In 83 games this year Amoros was hitting .311 with 9 homers, 48 RBI, and 58 runs scored.
