Ralph Kiner launched 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the Cleveland Indians
defeated the floundering Kansas City Athletics 9 to 3 at Municipal
Stadium.
Kiner was a seemingly constant irritant to the hometown fans as he provided
much of the offense for the visitors. He laced a base-hit in the 1st inning,
bombed a two-run dinger in the 3rd inning and cracked a solo homerun (his
17th of the season) in the 4th inning. Cleveland totaled 9 on the night.
The victory was credited to Herb Score(15-5) who went 5 innings, allowing 2
runs. Sal Maglie got the save, his 1st. Art Ceccarelli(4-8) was the losing
pitcher. He allowed 3 homeruns in 3 and 2/3 innings of work.
