In a close game the potent Brooklyn Dodgers got by the Philadelphia Phillies
by the score of 3 to 1.
Brooklyn had the game winning rally in the 8th inning scoring 2 runs. Pee Wee
Reese opened up the inning nicely when he drew a walk. After an out was
recorded, Roy Campanella came up and he lifted one out of the park for a two
run home run (his 27th of the season). Brooklyn had only 4 hits for the
game.
Don Bessent(5-1) was the winner allowing no runs in 1 inning. Bessent got
relief help from Clem Labine who gained credit for his 6th save. Murry
