The game was deadlocked at 1 after nine full innings. Cincinnati came out the
victor in the 12th inning. Smoky Burgess began the Cincinnati spurt when he
ripped a solo home run (his 18th of the season). After an out was recorded,
Stan Palys stepped up to the plate and he hit a single. Ted Kluszewski then
lined a single. Post followed and he doubled scoring the final run of the
inning. Chicago was set down quietly in the bottom of the 12th.
The win went to Hersh Freeman(6-3) who allowed no runs in 2 innings. Hal
Jeffcoat(4-8) suffered the loss in relief. He gave up 6 hits and 1 walk in 4
and 1/3 innings.
