Art Fowler pitched 6 strong innings as the Cincinnati Redlegs defeated the
Chicago Cubs by the score of 3 to 1 at Wrigley Field.
Cincinnati came up with the deciding runs in the 8th inning scoring 2 runs
utilizing 2 base hits. Johnny Temple led off the inning for Cincinnati when
he drew a walk. Smoky Burgess stepped up to the plate and he laced a
one-base hit. After an out was recorded, Wally Post stepped in and he
doubled plating two runs. Chicago was set down quietly in the bottom of the
9th.
The winning pitcher was Joe Nuxhall(14-9) who allowed no runs in 3 innings.
Warren Hacker(8-10) was the losing pitcher. He pitched 7 and 1/3 innings
allowing 6 hits and 2 walks.
