AL Transactions August 15th

The New York Yankees placed relief pitcher Jim Konstanty on the DL today. They also sent down to triple A Bobby Richardson and called up pitcher Rip Coleman.


Konstanty, the 38 year old righty, is in his 10th big league season. He is 5-3 with a 3.34 ERA and 9 saves so far this season in 62 innings pitched. Last season he was aquired from Philadelphia for the stretch run and was 1-0 with a 2.00 ERA in 18 innings for the Yankees.






The 19 year old rookie Richardson had been called up on August 5th and is hitting .111 in 20 plate appearnces since.


Rip Coleman is a 24 year old lefthander from Troy, New York. According to Casey Stengle, Coleman will immediately be thrust into the starting rotation.
