Bill Virdon hit one over the fence and had 3 RBI as the St. Louis Cardinals

outscored the Milwaukee Braves 6 to 3.

 

St. Louis scored 5 runs in the 4th inning when they had 4 base hits.  The key

offensive moment was provided by Virdon who brought a roar from the partisan

Sportsmans Park fans when he rifled a three-run blast (his 19th of the

season).  For the game St. Louis out-hit Milwaukee 11 to 4.  

 

Willard Schmidt(5-1) was the winner allowing 3 runs in 8 and 1/3 innings. Paul

Lapalme was credited with his 3rd save.  Warren Spahn(15-7) was the loser.
