Johnny Logan had 3 base hits as the very potent Milwaukee Braves defeated the
St. Louis Cardinals in 12 innings 5 to 4 at Sportsmans Park.
The score was tied at 3 after nine. Milwaukee came out the victor in the 12th
inning. Bobby Thomson led off and he reached on an error. Del Rice got his
turn next, but he was a strikeout victim. Bill Bruton then doubled bringing
in a run. Danny O'Connell stepped in and he would hit into a fielders choice
scoring the final run of the inning. Milwaukee rapped out 8 hits for the
night.
The winning pitcher was Ernie Johnson(7-4) who allowed 1 run in 3 innings.
Harvey Haddix(10-11) ended up with the loss in relief. He pitched 2/3 of an
inning allowing 1 hit and no walks.
