Hank Aaron had 4 hits and 2 RBI and Chet Nichols completed the game without
help from the bullpen as the Milwaukee Braves beat the St. Louis Cardinals by
a score of 4 to 2.
Milwaukee came through with the game-winning runs in the top of the 9th inning
scoring 2 runs on 3 hits. After an out was recorded, Andy Pafko keyed the
rally when he stroked a single. Eddie Mathews was next and he laid down a
sacrifice bunt. Aaron then smacked a single which scored a run. Johnny
Logan was up next and he doubled scoring the final run of the inning. St.
Louis went down without a fight in the bottom of the 9th.
Nichols(9-4), allowing 2 runs for the game, picked up the victory. Harvey
Haddix(10-10) was the loser. He pitched 9 innings allowing 9 hits and 5
walks.
