Wally Post rocketed 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI as the Cincinnati Redlegs
defeated the Chicago Cubs by a score of 6 to 5 at Crosley Field.
Post enjoyed a great evening at the plate. Every time he came up in the
latter innings, the crowd was on their feet cheering. He cleared the fences
for a two-run home run in the 1st inning, banged out a single in the 4th
inning and belted a three-run homer (his 31st of the season) in the 6th
inning. Chicago threatened in the 9th but Cincinnati was able to put down
the rally.
Johnny Klippstein(7-5) got the win allowing no runs in 4 and 1/3 innings.
Klippstein got help from Joe Nuxhall who earned his 2nd save. Bill
Tremel(1-1) was given the loss in relief.
'It's almost like the ball was trying to hit my bat,' Post said. 'Whenever I
would swing, the ball found the sweet spot.'
