In a tight game it was the Cleveland Indians 9, the Kansas City Athletics 7 in

10 innings at Municipal Stadium.

The game was deadlocked at 7 after nine full innings. Cleveland won the game

in the 10th inning. Hank Foiles led off and keyed the rally when he slapped

a one-base hit. Al Smith stepped up next and he cracked a two-run shot (his

17th of the season) resulting in a mighty exciting win for Cleveland and the

23,498 home town fans in attendance. Although they lost, Kansas City did

out-hit Cleveland 17 to 13.

Jose Santiago(1-1) got the win allowing no runs in 1 inning. The losing

pitcher was Art Ditmar(4-12) in relief. He allowed 2 hits and no walks

without retiring a batter.

With this win, Cleveland has a 69-51 record. They have been 5-5 lately. With

the loss Kansas City now has a record of 41-80.
