Bob Buhl went 9 strong innings as the Milwaukee Braves defeated the Chicago
Cubs by the score of 3 to 2 at County Stadium.
The game was decided in the bottom of the 8th inning. After two were out
Johnny Logan reached on an error. Bobby Thomson came next and he drew a
walk. George Crowe then drew a walk to load the bases. Chuck Tanner
followed and he drew a walk scoring the run. Chicago had a chance in the 9th
but they came up short.
The win was credited to Buhl(14-6) who went the whole way allowing 2 runs. The
loss was charged to Sam Jones(12-14) in relief. He was the victim of a
defensive lapse and did not allow an earned run in the game.
The Milwaukee ballclub's record now stands at a league leading 80-44. Chicago
has a record of 63-64 after the loss.
