One run was the difference at Griffith Stadium as the Washington Nationals
defeated the Boston Red Sox 4 to 3.
Washington delivered all the runs required in the 6th inning as they scored 4
runs on 2 base hits. The big moment was provided by Bob Porterfield who came
through for the home fans when he banged out a single bringing in two
baserunners. Camilo Pascual relieved and was untouched by Boston as he
recorded the save, his 2nd.
Porterfield(7-11) picked up the victory, allowing 3 runs in 8 innings. Frank
Sullivan(12-11) absorbed the loss. He gave up 4 runs and 3 hits in 7
innings.
