Bob Lemon pitched a complete game as the Cleveland Indians outscored the
Kansas City Athletics 7 to 3.
Cleveland started with a bang, jumping out to an early lead in their half of
the first scoring 3 runners on 3 hits. The critical plate appearance was by
Vic Wertz who thrilled the crowd when he popped a two-run clout over the
fence (his 13th of the season). Cleveland finished with 10 hits in the
victory.
Lemon(12-9) lasted until the end allowing 3 runs for the win. Art Ditmar(4-13)
was the losing pitcher. He gave up 7 runs in 6 and 2/3 innings of work.
