Jim Rivera had 2 base hits and Dick Donovan allowed Marty Marion to rest his

bullpen, tossing a complete game at Comiskey Park as the dominant Chicago

White Sox beat the Detroit Tigers in 10 innings by the count of 2 to 1.

The score was knotted at 1 after nine innings. Chicago won it in the 10th

inning. Minnie Minoso drew a walk. Rivera stepped up next and he drew a

walk. Bob Kennedy then laid down a sacrifice bunt. Walt Dropo followed and

he was walked intentionally to load the bases. After another out, Les Moss

stepped up to the plate and he hit a single making Chicago the victors to the

delight of the home town faithful. Chicago banged out 7 on the afternoon.

The victory went to Donovan(14-4) who went the distance allowing 1 run. Al

Aber(4-7) absorbed the loss in relief. His biggest problem was control as he

allowed 5 walks in 2 and 2/3 innings.
