At Crosley Field the slumping St. Louis Cardinals were battered 13 to 6 by the

Cincinnati Redlegs.

Cincinnati came up with 5 runs in the 6th inning. The key at-bat was by Milt

Smith who made the crowd come alive when he smacked a three-run homer (his

3rd of the season). The game was a wild affair with the lead changing hands

5 times.

Joe Black(9-1) went 1/3 of an inning allowing no runs for the victory. Paul

Lapalme(3-5) was given the loss in relief. He was pinned with the loss

despite not allowing an earned run in his 1 inning of work.

With this win, Cincinnati has a 74-50 record. They have been 7-3 lately.

With the loss, the St. Louis ballclub's record is 49-72.
