The Chicago White Sox edged the pitiful Baltimore Orioles in 13 innings at

The game was deadlocked at 2 after nine full innings. Chicago ended up

winning it in the 13th inning. After an out was recorded, Billy Pierce

stroked a base-hit. Chico Carrasquel next to the plate and he laid down a

sacrifice bunt. Nellie Fox then banged out a single giving Chicago the

victory as 17,017 happy fans celebrated wildly. Despite losing, Baltimore

out-hit Chicago 12 to 9.

The victory was credited to Pierce(14-4) who went 1 inning, allowing no runs.
